They Don’t Care

Iโ€™m never good enough.

I toiled yesterday.

I sweated today.

Amnesia takes over at the end of the day.

They donโ€™t remember your strengths.

They donโ€™t remember your smile.

They donโ€™t remember your good days.

Youโ€™re just full of vile.

They donโ€™t care about your busy mindโ€”

Thinking of them, praying for them.

They donโ€™t care about your tears at night.

They have the axe at my lifeโ€™s stem.

They donโ€™t see the drops of sweat on your forehead.

They donโ€™t see the panting of the great race.

They just see the immediate action in front of them.

They see the insubordination without the layers.

I’m never good enough.

I toiled yesterday.

I sweated today.

Amnesia takes over at the end of the day.
